First Sip
Blackberry, black currants, cherry, dark chocolate menthol, and conifer.
The Sommelier Says
Bordeaux wines are generally a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot contributing smaller portions. The Pont de Guitres is an unusual blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It’s full and round with charming aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate and conifer. On the palate, flavors of cherry and plum give way to hints of vanilla bean, anise and fennel.
The Inside Story
No other wine region in the world is a source of serious, complex age worthy wines than Bordeaux. Although the very top Bordeaux wines are renowned worldwide, most Bordeaux wines are elegant every day dinner wines. Lalande-de-Pomerol is the appellation immediately to the north of Pomerol. It includes the communes of Lalande-de-Pomerol and Neac and produces lush, Merlot-dominated wines similar to those of the more famous Pomerol.

“Among the Bordeaux first growths, Margaux and Laffite Rothschild are often the most elegant and subtle; Haut Brion, the most earthy; Mouton Rothschild and Latour, the most powerful”- Karen MacNeil, winewriter
